We apply multidisciplinary approaches to emerging issues in communicable diseases. We combine strengths in applied epidemiology with mathematical and spatial modelling to translate research findings into policy and practice.

Australian Pathogen Genomics Program: evaluation and cost-effectiveness of pathogen genomics

AusPathoGen aims to reduce the impact of infectious diseases on public health by improving pathogen characterisation and optimising responses through large-scale integration of pathogen genomics, epidemiological data and surveillance data at the population health level.

Mathematical modelling of respiratory pathogens

Respiratory pathogens are a significant cause of illness and hospitalisation in young children.This project is suitable for students with a strong maths background, and will use mathematical models to improve disease predictions, capture seasonality, and assess the potential impact of emerging vaccines and treatments.
